[Bill] The Bill for the relief of the Penobscot and other Indians being read a second time - the same was on motion committed to the Committee of the whole Senate - and the Senate thereupon resolved itself into Committee of the whole - Mr. Burnham in the chair - The Committee after having considered the same, rose and reported the Bill to the Senate, without amendment, The Senate then resumed the consideration of the Bill - and on motion of Mr. Bradbury, the further consideration thereof was postponed until the first session of the next Legislature.

[Report on petition] Mr. Bond from the Committee on new trials Reported that John H. Beckett give notice of his petition to persons interested, by causing an attested copy thereof with the order thereon to be published in the Eastern Argus, a newspaper printed at Portland three weeks successively, the last publication to be thirty days before the first wednesday of the next legislature. Read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence - came up concurred.

["] Mr. Bond from the same committee also reported that the Selectmen of the town of Jay give notice of their petition, to persons interested, by causing an attested copy thereof, with the order thereon to be published in the Hallowell Gazette three weeks successively - the last publication to be thirty days before the first wednesday of the next Legislature -

[Reports on petitions] also that the following petitioners have leave to withdraw their petitions to wit - Overseers of the poor of Lewiston - Noah Morrill, John Heddian, Bennet Pike & Luther Richardson, and - Selectmen of the Town of Foxcroft. Which Reports were severally read and accepted - Sent down for concurrence, came up concurred.
