As the President has called for three hundred thousand additional troops and as promotions are to be made among the deserving officers of regiments and as my officers will necessarily share in these promotions it will not perhaps be unpleasing to you while it is gratifying to me, to be able to state that during your time of service in this regiment as Captain of Company G., now nearly fifteen months, I can but express my entire satisfaction in every respect and furthermore can fully endorse you in any higher positions - satisfied that wherever stationed you will as ever prove yourself not only a brave competent officer but a thorough gentleman.
