Ordered that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to consider the expediency of passing an act exempting from attachment, execution, or distress all pews in the several meeting houses within this State – read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill – to incorporate the Proprietors of the Baptist Meeting House in Machias Port, was read a 1st & 2nd time and tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

Ordered, that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire into the expediency of authorizing the Secretary of State to purchase fifty copies of Greenleafs Reports of the decisions of the Supreme Judicial Court of this State, for distribution, to such towns and organized plantations as have not already been furnished with the same – read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve in favor of Josiah Towle, came from the Senate, that branch adhering to their amendments – The House propose a committee of Conference on the subject, and appoint Messrs Longfellow of Portland, Bent of Bangor & Hutchinson of Hartford on their part. Sent up for concurrence.

The Committee of Finance who were instructed to inquire what sum it is necessary to raise as a tax on polls & estates for the support of Government the present year, reported the following Order & the report was accepted.

Ordered that the Committee on Finance be instructed to prepare and report a Bill for raising the sum of Fifty
