Met according to adjournment.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence, instructing the committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of amending the law relating to the admission of Attornies, & the House concurred.

The committee to inquire into the expediency of modifying or repealing that part of the law relating to Banks which subjects them to the payment of two per cent a month to the holders of bills after demand is made &c reported a Bill - & the report was accepted.

Bill – “additional to an act to enforce the payment of Bank Notes & for other purposes” was read 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a third reading.

Bill in addition to an act to incorporate the North Yarmouth Academy, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate

Ordered that the joint standing committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of proposing an amendment to the Constitution of this State, so as that the Legislature shall convene on the last Wednesday of May or on any other day annually that may be deemed expedient, instead of the first Wednesday of January – read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

The committee on engrossed bills reported as duly engrossed, Bill – an additional act to provide for carrying into effect certain stipulations in the act for erecting the District of Maine into a separate State - - to incorporate the Quamphegan Manufacturing Company - - to incorporate the Kennebec Manufacturing Company - which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.
