The House resumed the order of the day on the Resolve “designating the place where the next Legislature shall meet” – Mr Adams of Portland moved an amendment to the Resolve, by striking out the words “Augusta in the County of Kennebec” and inserting instead thereof the words, “Portland in the County of Cumberland” Mr Boutelle called for a division of the question – and the first member thereof to wit shall the words “Augusta in the County of Kennebec” be stricken out was first taken, and decided in the affirmative by yeas & nays as follows, years 68 0 nays 54. The House then voted to fill the blank with the words “Portland in the County of Cumberland.” & passed the Resolve to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.
