Resolve in favor of the town of Brunswick, was called up & referred to Messrs Adams of Portland, Alden of Brunswick & Hutchinson of Hartford.

The committee to whom was referred a Resolve providing for settling the line of Newfield & Shapleigh adjoining New Hampshire – reported a reference of the subject to the next Legislature – and the report was accepted.

The Committee to whom was referred the Report of the Committee on the petition of the town of Albion granting an order of notice, & which was accepted in the Senate, reported that the House concur with the Senate in their acceptance of the report.

Bill – additional to the several acts now in force respecting Highways, was called up, and Mr Longfellow of Portland moved a new section to be added at the end of the 8th section in the following words “Sec. 9. Be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty of the Courts of Sessions in the several counties to cause all new County roads, hereafter laid out or accepted, to be made at the expense of the County in which said road is situated, but the several towns shall be obliged to keep said roads in repair in the mode now provided by law” - which amendment did not prevail. The question was taken by yeas & nays & decided as follows [See appendix page 317.] yeas 31 nays 55. Mr Longfellow then moved a further amendment but before the question was taken thereon, the House,
