long continued, and may you have the satisfaction of contributing to the prosperity of this young and rising State, and of advancing the interest of that people who have raised you to the honorable and responsable [responsible] station you now hold. -Elected by the free suffrages of fellow citizens to legislate for their welfare, and having performed what, in all probability, will be required of us as Legislators, during the present political year, we are now about to separate, probably never all to meet again on this side eternity. The mingled sensations, which on occasions like this, press on the mind, cannot fail to affect the heart and impress on the mind how transitory and evanescent are all objects of time. - Permit me, Gentlemen to wish you a safe return to your homes, and the enjoyment of the bosoms of your families, as much felicity as is consistent with the transitory scenes of this sublunary world. -May you continue to enjoy the cofidence [confidence] of your fellow citizens, and finally receive the approbation of that omniscient Being, who controls the destinies of the Universe." -
