19 [1824] [Secretary of State chosen] The Convention then proceeded to the choice of a Secretary of State; the whole number of votes given, were one hundred and fifty four necessary to a choice seventy eight, Amos Nichols Esq. had one hundred and fifty three and was elected. The two Houses then separated.

[Message from the Governor] The Secretary of State came in and laid on the table a written Message from the Governor, which was read and laid on the table.

[Notice ordered to the Counsellors] On motion of Mr. McDonald, ordered that the Secretary of State be directed to notify Daniel Wood, William Chadwick, James McLellan, Abraham Morrill, Daniel Merrill, Joseph Lock and John Balkam Esquires that they have been duly elected by both branches of the Legislature; Counsellors to advise the Governor in the Executive part of the Government, and request their immediate attendance. Sent down for concurrence, and came up concurred.

[Notice ordered to the Secretary of State] On motion of Mr. Wheeler ordered that the Secretary of Senate be directed to notify Amos Nichols Esq. that he had been duly elected Secretary of State by the two Houses of the Legislature for the current political year.

Adjourned to 10 Oclock monday morning.
