General Orders, Head-quarters, Roxbury March 20. 1799.
The Commander in Chief having received a protest from Howard S. Robinson, & others, of the Company of Artillery in Hallowell, in the 8. Division, against the election of Samuel E. Dutton to be Captain of said Company -- orders, that a copy of said protest be transmitted to Major-General Dearborn, and that he report upon the subject of said election & protest, as soon as may be; and that he include therewith such representation from Brigadier-General Sewall as shall together enable the Commander in Chief to determine thereon according to law, & agreeably to military rules and discipline.
