Ordered that the committee who have under consideration so much of the Governors Message as relates to the subject of the Deaf & Dumb be directed to consider what compensation shall be allowed to the Hon. Prentiss Mellen & Hon. Peleg Sprague for their expenses & services in visiting the Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb at Hartford pursuant to a Resolve of this Legislature and that said Committee report by bill or otherwise - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence
Ordered that the Committee on Bridges, turnpikes & Canals be instructed to enquire into the expediency of giving a longer time to the Cumberland & Oxford Canal Corporation to make and complete said Canal - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence. -
Messrs Goodenow of Alfred & Dane of Kennebunk had leave of absence after today for one week.
A communication was received from the Secretary of State transmitting a copy of the contract made by him with Messrs Todd & Smith to do the State Printing, for the information of the Legislature - read and Sent up.
Bill additional to an act regulating Divorces, (reported by the Committee on that subject) was read 1st & 2d time & tuesday next at 11 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.
Bill additional to an act respecting the admission of Attornies - was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill in addition to an act entitled an act respecting Pounds and impounding Beasts going at large or damage feasant, was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.
