16th  We started in the morning and mar-ched to Manasas Junction. When we halted I found myself nearly done out by hard marching and the heat and was abliged to fall out of the ranks and throw away my load except gun and equipme-nts, blanket and rations. Fortunately for me the regt filed off into the woods and went into the shade for the remainder of the day and night. Our regt went on picket on the east side of the R.R.
