Petition of John Patten and als, and the report thereon of Steuben praying to be annexed to the town of Cherryfield, came from the Senate referred to the committee on the incorporation of towns for concurrence and the House concurred.
Petition of Benjamin Morrill Junior of Orland praying to be annexed to Bucksport, came from the Senate referred to the committee on the incorporation of towns for concurrence – and the House concurred.
Petition of Eliashib Adams & others, and the report thereon praying to be incorporated as the owners of the Bangor Meeting House, came from the Senate referred to the Committee on the incorporation of Parishes & other religious Societies for concurrence – and the House concurred.
Ordered that the committee on Finance be instructed to enquire into the expediency of providing by law that the several towns and plantations at their annual meetings for the choice of town officers, may under certain restrictions determine what proportion of the public, town or plantation taxes shall be assessed upon the polls within the same. read & passed.
