Senate, referred to Messrs Scammon & Pond with such as the House may join. The House reconsidered their former vote of 18th inst accepting said report, and concurred the Senate in a reference, and Messrs Fessenden of Portland, Trafton of Shapleigh & Farrow of Islesboro were joined.

An order came from the Senate directing that no petitions shall be received by this Legislature after the first day of February next for concurrence – and the House concurred.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence instructing the committee on the Judiciary to enquire into the expediency of altering or repealing the Law, establishing Courts of Sessions, so far as it relates to the appointment of Standing Committees within the several Counties – and the House concurred.

Ordered that the committee on Military affairs be instructed to take into consideration the necessity of authorizing the commandants of the several Regiments and Battalions to call out their commissioned and noncommissioned officers at certain seasons for the purpose of a Drill; and also to enquire into the expediency of reducing the number of trainings to an annual inspection, except in case of choice of Officers; - read & passed. Ordered that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire what provisions are necessary to be made for the safe keeping and certifying of the records of deceased Justices of the Peace. read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Josiah Towle for a grant of land or relief in some other way in consequence of being subject to heavy taxes, was read & referred to Messrs Fessenden of Portland, Holt of Norway and Bent of Bangor with such as the Senate may join. Sent up for concurrence.
