A communication was received from Hon William P Preble of his opinion & the reasons for his opinion upon the questions submitted to him by virtue of the order of this House of the 27th ult.
An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing the Secretary of the Senate to procure to be printed for the use of the Legislature three hundred copies of the General Statement of the affairs of the State Prison, as exhibited to this Legislature by the Warden of that Institution – and the House amended the same by striking out the words “the Senate” and inserting instead thereof the word “State” and passed the same as amended. Sent up for concurrence.
A message was received from the Governor dated January 31st 1826 communicating a letter from Remembrandt [Rembrandt] Peale [see appendix page 274] which was read and with the accompanying papers referred to the committee on Literature and Literary Institutions in concurrence with the Senate.
The committee on the petition of the Trustees of North Yarmouth Academy were on their own request discharged from any further consideration of the same – and the petition was on motion referred to the committee on Literature and Literary Institutions. Sent up for concurrence.
Ordered that the Clerk of the House of Representatives cause to be printed, subject to the disposition of this House, six hundred copies of the opinions given by the Justices of the Supreme Judicial on the questions submitted to them by virtue of orders of this House of 11th & 27th of January last.
