Message from the Senate by Mr Low their Secretary, Mr Speaker, The Senate have reconsidered their former vote postponing the choice of a Major General for the 4th Division to the next Senate, and have made choice of Brig. Genl Richard T. Dunlap, in concurrence with the House.

Bill – additional to an act providing for the appointment of Clerks of Courts in the several Counties and requiring them to render an account of all monies received, came from the Senate indefinitely postponed for concurrence, and the House concurred.

The committee on engrossed bills reported as duly engrossed, Bill – to incorporate the Bath Public Library - to establish the times of holding the Courts of sessions in the County of Penobscot - - to incorporate the Great Works Manufacturing Company - - establishing the Portland Athenaeum which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill – authorizing a Lottery for improving the Navigation of the Kennebec River, was taken up, and the House reconsidered their votes passing the same to be enacted and engrossed and then the Bill was ordered to lie on the table until ten oclock tomorrow.

Report on the petition of Elias Stowell & als granting leave for a Bill came from the Senate accepted for concurrence and the House concurred.

Bill – additional to an act to exempt certain goods & chattels from attachment and execution & from distress for taxes reported in a new draft which was adopted, was read a 1st and 2nd time & tomorrow at ten oclock assigned for a third reading.

Resolve remitting certain fees to the Secretary of State
