Friday January 16th 1829 [39.] [message to the Governor informing him of the choice of U.S. Senator] On Motion by Mr Usher ordered that the Secretary of State be directed to notify the Governor that the Legislature on the 15th instant by a concurrent vote of the Senate and House of Representatives elected John Holmes of Alfred a Senator in the Congress of the United States to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Albion K. Parris and that the Governor be requested to furnish him with the certificates and testimonials of his election to enable him to take his seat in the Senate of the United States.
