(237) Saturday 13th March 1830. The Senate met according to adjournment. [Bill State Tax $50,000] A Bill from the House providing for the assessment and collection of a State tax of Fifty thousand dollars came up, having passed the House to be Engrossed, for concurrence. It was read the first time and this day at twelve o'clock (noon) was assigned for the second reading. [Bill to change the Names of certain Persons] A Bill from the House entitled "An act to change the names of certain Persons" came up, having passed the House to be Engrossed, for concurrence. It was read the first and second times and passed to be Engrossed, in concurrence. [Pet. of D. Howe] The Report of a Select Committee of the House, on the Petition of Daniel Howe, giving the Petitioner leave to withdraw his Petition, came up, accepted, for concurrence. The Petition and report were read and the Senate concurred. [Bill State Prison] Mr. Megquier, from the Committee on Bills in the second reading, to whom was referred a Bill entitled "An act additional to an act for the Government of the State 's Prison" reported the same with an amendment. The Senate agreed to the amendment proposed by the Committee and the said Bill having been read the second time passed to be Engrossed as thus amended. Sent down for concurrence. [Resolve - Contingent Expenses] The same Gentleman, from the Select Committee to whom was referred the Resolve entitled "Resolve for the payment of contingent expenses" reported the same without amendment, and the same was read the second time and passed to be Engrossed in concurrence.
