On motion of Mr. Parks of Bangor Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of authorizing the Governor with the advice & consent of the Council to appoint some person living in the Aroostook settlement to perform the duties required of town & plantation clerks in publishing intentions of marriage & to appoint some suitable person or persons living in that settlement to solemnize marriages with leave to report by Bill or otherwise - sent up for concurrence.

On motion by Mr. Pierce of Solon Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of so altering the law relating to highways districts as to make them corporate bodies to prevent the evils arising to towns on account of fines occasioned by the negligence or indolence of certain districts with liberty to report by Bill or otherwise - Sent up for concurrence.
