The Bill – entitled an Act in further addition to An Act to provide for the education of Youth, was called up, the vote of the 10th inst. passing the same to be enacted[underlined] reconsidered, and the amendment proposed by message this morning by the Senate adopted, and then the House ordered the Bill as thus amended to be re-engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

The House resumed the consideration of the report of the Committee on so much of the Governors Message as relates to a proportional distribution of the surplus funds of the United States to promote internal improvement & the accompanying Resolves – The question in order being on the motion of Mr Ames to amend the first Resolve – and the same[underlined] was decided in the negative by yeas & nays as follows viz Yeas 48 Nays 86 [see appendix page 242] The Resolves & report were then passed to be engrossed and the question was taken by Yeas & Nays as follows Yeas 81 Nays 50 [see appendix page 246]

And then the House adjourned until 1/2 past nine o clock tomorrow morning.
