For the kind expression of approbation you have been pleased to bestow upon me for the course pursued during the short period I have had the honor of presiding over your deliberations I cannot but feel the liveliest emotions of gratitude - It is the more gratifying emanating as it does from one towards whom there is a general sentiment of respect & esteem - To deserve your approbation has been my anxious endeavor and if in any small degree I have succeed to your indulgence and assistance must it be attributed - It is true the present had been a session of unusual length and it is also true that it has been one of unusual labor.
