Sir you no doubt will be surprised in recieving this letter from me. The reason why i write to you is because I am very lame and am not used right here in this hospital,, I was wounded at the Battle of Hanover Court House the 27th day of May and was sent here the 3d day of June. I was wounded in the left hip, my wound has healed up but cannot bear any weight on my leg yet it swells very bad down to my foot so that I have to lay in my stocking feet the most of the time. The 20th of this month I went up to be examined by the
