Mr K was for a long time asisitant Clerk of the Courts under Bro Westin - has often been in my employ in my office ,I know him well -he left a sallory of $ 600 per year-where he gave entire satisfaction

he is a young man of good character, good habits, well educated- & worthy in a subjects- he is now sick & unfit for duty = his fellow countryman feel ( & I think greatly) that he should have a better place, it is wished by his friends that he may be permitted to have a furlow ( ? ) - ( ? ? his health- & when again fit for duty, have a place assigned him commence ( ? ) with his merit -

Westin - has often been in my employ in my office, I know him well -he left a sallory of $ 600 per year-where he gave entire satisfaction he is a young man of good character, good habits, well educated- & worthy in all subjects- he is now sick & unfit for duty - his fellow countryman feel ( & I think justly) that he should have a better place, it is wished by his friends that he may be permitted to have a furlough - secure recover his health & when again fit for duty, have a place assigned him commensurate with his merit -
