Bridgham, Burnham, Dunlap, Eastman, Emerson, Gibson, Goodwin, Groton, Hodgman, Lithgow, Megquier, Merrill, Smith, Sweat, Thayer, Thompson and Webb - 17. The same Gentleman then moved to amend by inserting in the second Resolve after the word "community", the words "so far as those duties are not necessary for the proper protection, and encouragement of domestic industry"; and the question of so amending being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays was decided in the negative as follows, to wit, Yeas - Messrs. Boutelle, Hunton and Scammon - 3 Nays - Messrs.
