Agreeably to assignment the two Branches of the Legislature met in Convention for the purpose of electing seven Counsellors, and a Secretary of State.
Messrs. Davee, Hamlin and Bradbury of the Senate and Messrs. Smith of Westbrook, Webster Washburn, Chase and Phelps of the House were appointed a Committee to receive, sort and count the votes for Councillors.
Messrs Cobb and Warren of the Senate and Messrs Lord, Crosby and Small of the House were appointed a Committee to receive, sort and count the votes for a Secretary of State, who having attended to the duty assigned them, reported that the whole number of votes given in was 194 Necessary to constitute an election 98 Roscoe G.
