On motion of Mr Keith, Ordered, that the Secretary be authorized to obtain from the Treasurer of State, a Copy of a Bond, signed by certain inhabitants of Augusta, for finishing the State buildings, and levelling the grounds.

Bill to incorporate the Proprietors of the Hallowell Hotel; Bill additional to an Act defining the duties and powers of Justices of the Peace, respecting actions of replevin. Bill further to provide for the education of Youth; Resolve providing for ascertaining the quality of the soil, the growth of timber, and the geology of certain parts of the public lands; Resolve to increase the yearly compensation of the Register of Probate of the County of Kennebec; Resolve in favor of Charles Morris; were severally read once, and Monday next at twelve o'clock assigned for a second reading

The Senate recede from the vote whereby they accepted the report of the joint Standing committee on Incorporation of Towns on the petition of Abraham Smith and others, and concur the House in recommitting the same.

Bill providing that draws in free Bridges over tide waters, shall be made at the expence of the several Counties; was read a second time and indefinitely postponed in concurrence.
