Afternoon.
Bill additional to incorporate the City of Bangor was read once and passed to be engrossed as taken in new draft, in concurrence.
Mr Rogers from the Committee of Conference to which was referred the disagreement of the two Houses in relation to Bill enlarging the jurisdiction of Justices of the Peace in civil cases, made a report that the two Houses adhere to their respective votes of disagreement. The question of accepting said report, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the affirmative as follows, to wit: Yeas. Messrs. Bradbury, Brown, Cobb, Cogswell, Chandler, Emmons, Farnham, Groton, Howard, Labaree, Manning, Porter, Prescott, Read, Rogers, Smith and Williamson, ---- 17. Nays. Messrs. Allen, Frye, Kelsey, Knowlton and Tobin --- 5.
Resolve providing for the purchase of the Laws of Maine came up from the House of Representatives indefinitely postponed. The Senate recede from their vote passing said Resolve to be engrossed, and indefinitely postpone the same, in concurrence.
Resolve for the purchase of Indian Lands was read once and indefinitely postponed in concurrence.
Resolve additional for completing the Barring and Houlton road came up amended. The Senate reconsider their vote passing said Resolve to be engrossed adopt the amendment proposed & refuse the same a passage, in concurrence.
