I read your kind
letter of the 10th and was happy to hear frome you and to hear that you are all well Farther My health never was better in the world than it is now Farther I suppose that you would like to know what we are abought well we are building Forts and roads the Rebels go to bed at night to git up in the morning to see the Yankees right under ther nose Thay wil git up and rub ther eyes and look wild and I think that thay wil looke wilder before long suppose that the pepole think Genl Grant and Meead slow but let them come and see what his men has doen since thay croest the river Farther we live in Boom proves for the rebels throw some shels over at us but thay hant got very good range of us yet and I dont want that they should thare'
