State, in consequence of the resignation of Major General Alfred Marshall - read and passed.
On motion of Mr. Purinton, Ordered, that the Joint Standing Committee on Literary Institutions be instructed to inquire into the expediency of making an appropriation either in money or in land to the Lewiston Falls Academy, with leave to report by Bill or otherwise -- read and passed. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
Order from the House of Representatives instructing the Committee on Literary Institutions to inquire into the expediency of making a grant of land or money to Limerick Academy - read and passed, in concurrence.
The Committee on Engrossed Bills reported as correctly engrossed. Bill establishing Howland Academy, and the same was passed to be enacted.
