I beg pardon (not knowing the proper official-) for enclosing a power of attorney, drawn in favor of Geo. M. Bartholomew Esq, of Hart- ford, to procure the pay due me from the State of Maine for services as Chaplain. My commission dates May 4th when I reported for duty & pay is due me from that date to May 28th when I was mustered into the service of the U.S.- my pay being the full pay of a Captain
