In order to ascertain whether certain recruits in the 2nd Mass. Heavy Artillery are entitled to certain U.S. bounty, it is requisite to ascertain the total number of veterans in that Regiment. A number of veterans in that Regiment are stated to have previously served nine months or more in Maine Regiments; but further proof is required and an official certificate of the fact of their names appearing on the rolls of the Maine Regiments will
