Dear Sir I spoke to you with Hon. N.P. Washburn and others last winter about my son Charles Bridges who is 2nd Sergeant in Company B 2d Reg. Maine Vols. I wished him promoted to Lieut if there was a vacancy but there is not likely to be any soon I see by the papers there is to be a new Reg. raised and I want him to have a Lieuts [?] in one of the companys of the new Reg. if you want recommendations I will send you some good ones by express mail
