2 [Choice of president] The Presidents of the Convention having retired the members of the Senate proceeded to the choice of a president when receiving sorting & counting the votes they were found as [?] viz. whole number fifteen
Hon. John Chandler had fourteen & was chosen
The Hon. Mr Chandler addressed the Senate expressing his grateful sense of honor confirmed accepted & took the chair
[Choice of Secretary] The Senate then proceeded to the choice of Secretary & when receiving, sorting & counting the votes it appeared that Ebenezer Herrick, Esq. was unanimously chosen
Mr Herrick being notified of this election appeared in the Senate [Chamber] signified his acceptance of the office & took & subscribed the oaths required by the Constitution to qualify him to discharge his duties
