58 [Report — on Pet. of John Means & others —] The committee on petition of John Means & others reported a reference of the subject to the committee on incorporation of Parishes and other religious Societies and ministerial and School Lands — The report was accepted in the Senate and sent down for concurrence and the House concurred.
[Committee — to provide for excise duty to be paid by Attornies.] On motion of Mr Clark of Limington Ordered That Messrs Clark of Limington; Leach of Raymond and Taylor of Belgrade be a committee to consider the expediency of establishing by law an excise duty to be paid by Attorneys or Counsellors at Law prior to their being allowed to demand or receive any remuneration for professional service, with leave to report by Bill or otherwise. Read and passed.
[Committee — Washington Academy] An order from the Senate appointing Messrs Bond & O'Brien with such as the House may join, a committee to hear the Trustees of the funds of the Washington Academy, came down for concurrence — and the House concurred, & Messrs Millikin of Scarboro; Wood of Camden & Barnard of Dixfield were joined.
