To the Speaker of the House of Representatives. In compliance with the request of the House of Representatives. I now endorse for their consideration a copy of the Treaty between the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Penobscot tribe of Indians, dated the 30th day of June 1818 also the copy of the Treaty between this State and that tribe authorized by a Resolve of this Legislature of the 20th June last: These documents furnish the information requested, so far as relates to the Penobscot Indians, as they contain all the duties and obligations which this State has assumed in relation to that time; and also the extent of territory which this State has assumed in relation to that time; and also the extent of territory which has been reserved for their use. The payment which is to be made to this tribe at the present prices of the several articles, may be estimated at One thousand dollars annually. The copy of a Resolve dated Feby 10th 1795 is
