[time assigned for choice of Chaplain] On motion, ordered that tomorrow at 10 o'clock be assigned for the choice of a Chaplain, and that nomination lists be put up in the mean time. -

In Senate Jan. 2d 1823 - [Report of Committee on votes for Senators] Mr. Bond from the committee appointed to receive & examine the returns of votes for Senators from the several towns & plantations in this State and to report who appear to be elected, what vacancies exist, and who are the constitutional candidates to fill the same.

[York] Reported, That in the county of York the whole number of votes given & returned according to the provisions of the constitution is 2236 necessary to constitute an election 1119 Mark Dennett Esq. has 1482 & is elected John McDonald Esq. has 1553 & is elected Ellis B. Usher Esq. has 1264 & is elected.

[Cumberland] That in the county of Cumberland the whole number of votes is 3837 Necessary to constitute an election 1919 William Buxton Esq. has 2059 & is elected Josiah Dunn Jun Esq. has 1959 & is elected Sylvanus Higgins Esq. has 2042 & is elected.
