Governor of the State of Maine
the undersigned Republican voters of the town of Eastport, respectfully & earnestly request the appointment of Mr. George H[?] Welch of Perry as Agent for the Passamaquoddy tribe of Indians.
Mr. Welch by his prompt & correct business habits & integrity of character is well[?] qualified to discharge the duties of said office.
