I Charles Sprague, of Calais, of lawful age do testify and say, that I purchased three barrels of potatoes, called the Slater potatoes, in the spring of 1857. They were a part of the same lot out of which Seth W. Smith had one hundred bushels. I paid one dollar a bushel for those I had and afterwards sold them for one dollar & twenty five cents per bushel. One dollar & twenty five cents per bushel was a fair cash price. At one time last spring I purchased thirty bushels of "blue [?]" potatoes for one dollar and thirty seven & a half cents a bushel, and sold them for one dollar & fifty cents a bushel.

The Slater potatoes that I had were good sized potatoes & very round. I planted some of them & they were first rate seed. I also planted "blue [?]" & [?] potatoes. The Slater potatoes yielded nearly twice as large a crop as any other potatoes that I planted.
