I Patrick Welch of lawful age on oath do testify and say that I had a conversation with Mr. James Landers some time last spring about the sale of one hundred bushels of oats by said Landers to Seth W. He replied "I sold Smith one hundred dollars worth of oats and received my pay for them", & that the receipt would show how much I received.

In the spring of 1857 I purchased some potatoes sold at auction, by Mr. Solomon B. Pool, and paid one dollar & seven cents per barrel. They were very poor potatoes & more than one half of these were rotten & not fit for use.
