82. Deed from[underlined]Augusta committed & Seat of Government. The deed of a site for the [underlined]Public [underlined]buildings, from Joshua Gage & others of [underlined]Augusta, to the State of Maine, and accompanying papers, taken from the last years files of the Senate, being sent down, agreeably to the request of this House of yesterday - on motion, the same were referred to Messrs McCobb of Phipsburg, Morrill of Wells and Bonney of Turner.

Deed from Wiscasset, referred, Mr Quinnam laid upon the Speakers table a deed of a piece of land from Warren Rice & als of Wiscasset to the State of Maine as a site for the Public buildings on certain conditions, which was referred to the last named committee.

The committee on the subject of prohibiting public treats on days of Elections, reported a Bill - report read & accepted.

Bill to prevent intemperance excess and corruption on days of Election, was read [underlined]once, and Tuesday next assigned for a 2d reading and referred to Messrs Watts of St George, Robbins of Union, Ayer of Newfield, Fessender of Portland & Blaney of Bristol.

The committee to consider the expediency of exempting by law from taxation Manufacturing Companies & reported a Bill - report accepted in Senate came down for concurrence & the House concurred.

Bill to exempt from taxation Manufacturing Companies of Cotton & Wool, Iron & Steel for a limited time - was read 1 & 2d time & Tuesday next at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading
