Governor John Francis at Pleasant Point Sed that the former Governors Seem not to pay any regards to their wishes that after they have Signed for @ man whom they wish to be agent, that some one would be put in whom they did not want, the [sic] hoped it would not be done again, he Said he knew they had been wronged but he did not know how to prevent it, he is old & wishes help he has for @ House @ frame up & wants help enough from the State to finish it his Farther [sic] helped Save Machias from the English, he fired upon them with @ very long gun & it took effect & I think he said killed the foremost one & then they retreated.
