Whereas, before our Court of Common Pleas, begun and holden at Portland, within and for our County of Cumberland, on the third tuesday of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five, John Foster, Junior, of Portland, in our said County of Cumberland, Schoolmaster, was convicted of the Crime of Larceny; and thereupon, by our said Court, was sentenced to be punished by solitary imprisonment for the term of thirty days; and afterwards by confinement to hard labor for the term of one year; in and within the State Prison, situate in Thomaston, in the County of Lincoln; a part of which sentence yet remains to be executed; and he the said John Foster, Junior, has humbly supplicated Us for mercy:
