Bangor Apr 12th 1861 Governor Washburn Dear Sir I feel it my
duty to adress A few line to you in regard to our second maine Regiment from Bangor The boys are writing home that they are starving is it possibal our Government will send our men out there to fight for their country and not give them enough to eat and so arear[?] : I have a son out there all I have but I do not take his testimony alone but I hear from evry quarter they are hungry and the bread and meat they have is not fit to eat They are worn down with that dreadfull battle they had and good sweet meat This has been the cry ever since they have been out there cannot this be seen so I am A union
