My Dear Governor

I should apologize for writing you again so soon but I do it at the special request of Doct. McRuer. Most of the leading men here are intere- esting themselves for his appointment as Brigade Surgeon. V. Pres. Hamlin departing puse his usual rule, has promised to write [?] a letter strongly recommending his appointment. I stated to Dr McRuer what I understood has been your [?] practice as to appoint ment under the general government but if you can do anything in his favor he will be very thankful as he is exceedingly anxious for the place referred to.
