� I Ebenez'r Crosby of Hampden in the County of Penobscot yeoman, do humbly testify & say, that in the fore part of the year 1776, according to the best of my recollection, inlisted into the Service of the United States for seven months; in Capt. Andrew Gilmans Company Brewers Regt [inserted] This was a kind of Ranging Company, stationed of the Penobscot River; the Captain & part of our Company went on to the River St. Johns but I with the remainder of the Company kept guard at the Blacks house, above the head of the tide; a little below, the Indian Old Town; I continued during the said term of seven months & was regularly discharged: And immediately viz In the month of October 1777, I inlisted again four three months, in Capt Nicholas Crosby's Company & Col Atkins's Regt -- We were stationed at Machias in the County of Washington. We continued there till my said inlistment was out, & was then Regularly discharged. --- My Said discharge was lost: I am now under reduced circumstances & need the assistance of my Country for support -- I hereby relinquish all claims to any previous Pensions for my [mark meaning aforesaid] Services Witness my hand Ebe'z Crosby
