Evening, Resolve respecting Clerk hire in the office of the Treasurer and Secretary of State and for other purposes came up and the Senate committed the same to Messrs Stebbins, Churchill and Green

Resolve imposing a tax on the several Counties came up, was read a first time and committed to Messrs Churchill, Green and Prime.

Bill imposing a duty on sales of Lottery tickets came up and the Senate nonconcur with the House in passing this Bill and postpone the same indefinitely. Sent for concurrence.

Bill authorizing a Canal for the improvement of the navigation of Mousam River came up amended and the Senate reconsider their former vote adopted the amendments proposed in part, further amended the Bill and passed the same to be engrossed as amended, Sent down for concurrence,

Report of the Committee on the Judiciary that the petition of Syms Gardiner and others with the accompanying papers be referred to the next Legislature accepted in the House came up for concurrence and the Senate concurred Resolve -
