We halted in a field where the dead men lay scatered thick all over the ground at the rate of one to each squair rod. The union men and confederates mixed all together wher they had charged allternately detirmined to hold the little marks that the rebs had thrown up for protection. Our Col J L Chameblin was wounded with a minnie ball threw the hips while commanding the 1st Brigade in the 1st Division of the 5th Corps. It was reported that the wound would prove fatal. |
