That errors have not occurred in many instances, I have not the presumption to suppose, but I hope with confidence that they have not been of sufficient magnitude, essentially to impair your convenience or the public interests. If I have succeeded in any degree to fulfil your expectations, and to justify the honorable & flattering vote by which I was called to this situation, I feel how deeply I am indebted to the kind assistance & support which my exertions have uniformly received from the members of this House. I pray you Gentlemen, & the respected mover of the resolution which has just been adopted, to accept my sincere tribute of gratitude for all the honors & favors bestowed upon me, & be assured that in all the vicissitudes of life, I shall recollect with peculiar pride & pleasure the distinction you have conferred, & the approbation you have expressed of my public conduct. We are now about to separate - probably never again to mingle our counsels, & unite our efforts for the promotion of human prosperity. As you return to the confidence & gratitude of your constituents, & the endearments of domestic life, bear with you the assurances of my high regard & esteem, and my warmest aspirations to Heaven for your continued happiness & prosperity. And may we so discharge all our trusts upon earth as finally
