Petition of the Trustees of Ministerial and School funds in Dixmont for authority to appropriate a part thereof to the use for which it was intended, committed in the House to the Committee on Incorporation of Parishes &c, came up for concurrence, was read and concurred.

Remonstrance of John Howard and others agt. Petition of Ignatius Haskell, committed in the House to the Committee on New Trials; came up for concurrence, was read and concurred.
[Committee on the subject of Notice of the appointment & qualification of certain officers]
On motion of Mr. Fairbanks, Ordered that Messrs. Fairbanks and Stebbins be a Committee with such as the House may join, to take into consideration the expediency of enacting a law requiring the Sheriffs of the several Counties in this State to give public notice of the appointment and qualification of their Deputies; also Clerks of Courts of Sessions to give public notice of the qualification of the Coroners appointed within their respective Counties; and also Treasurers of towns and plantations to give similar notice of the election and qualification of Constables, within their respective towns and plantations; with leave to report by Bill or otherwise: Sent down for concurrence, was concurred and Messrs. Spring, Hill and Stephenson were joined.
