[Report relating to imprisonment for Debt] Mr. Kingsbury, from the Joint standing Committee on the Judiciary, on an order of 24th February 1830 instructing said Committee to inquire into the expediency of so altering or amending the Law as to abolish imprisonment for debt, reported that it is inexpedient to legislate upon the subject at this late period of the session. The report was read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred. [Bill to prevent obstructions of Schoodic River &c] The same Gentleman, from the same Committee on the Petition of Jones Dyer & others, reported a Bill entitled "An act to prevent the filling up and obstruction of Schoodic River", which was read the first time, and, on motion, ordered to lie on the table. [Bill requiring notice in contested Elections] The same Gentleman, from the same Committee, on an order instructing said Committee to inquire into the expediency of passing a Law giving seasonable notice to Members-Elect of the House of Representatives of an intent to contest their election, reported a Bill entitled " An act requiring notice to be given in cases of contested elections", which was read the first time and, on motion, ordered to lie on the table.
