Senate February 8th, 1825. -

[Committee on certain ministers solemnizing Marriages]

Order of the House that Messrs. Warren, Fessenden and Bailey with such as the Senate may join, be a committee to consider the expediency of authorizing the several ordained ministers of the Roman Catholic and Protistant [Protestant] Episcopal Churches, settled in this State, to solemnize marriages between those of their respective denominations in any County in the State, with leave to report by Bill or otherwise,” came up for concurrence: Read and concurred and Messrs. Churchill and Parsons of L. were joined.

Petition of William Sullivan &als. for a revision of the law relating to taxes,” Petition of Aaron Porter for a New Trial,” and Petition of Polly Berry that her marriage may be made valid,” committed in the House to the committee on New Trials, came up for concurrence: Read and concurred.

Bill additional to an Act to incorporate the Kennebec Steam Navigation Company,” came up with an amendment, in which the Senate concur and pass the same to be engrossed.

were read a 2d. time and passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the House. -

Bill additional to an Act respecting the admission of Attorneys,” was read a 2d. time & passed to be engrossed with an amendment: sent down for concurrence. -
